Can u help me with fallout 3, gaining xp, and getting caps?

ok im lv 10 in fallout 3, with rlly bad karma, i want to go to rivet city, but there are alot of super mutants, i want to know if there is a place i can, get xp, and some caps to buy ammo and supplies?
