Will using benzoyl peroxide every 2 nights work with acne?

ive heard that if you use benzoyl peroxide it helps clear up zits.. but when you stop using it they come back or your face becomes even worse, kinda like ur face builds up an immunity.. anyways.. will using it every 2 nights be a short enough time period for your skin to stay clear?
