Why do emos act like they have it tough?

Why do emos insist that their lives are so horrible. Its my understanding that Emo is short for Emotional/Goth and that they are just have sad horrible lives. Im sorry but if you live in third world country I believe you have the right to say your life sucks. But a bunch of dudes wearing colorful shirts and tight pants just don't strike me as "Emo" Scene kids mabye, metro most likely but Emo? I have asked all the emo kids I know and they swear they are emo and nothing more. Is this just a stupid fag going on or do these kids really have problems. Because for such horrible lifes they sure do have enough money and love to get all their skinny jeans and hair products lol. I just don't get it.
