Side by side refrigerator leaks water from freezer every couple of days...

the defrost water is the answer the drain line is blocked, remove the bottom bin in the freezer and look to the bottom back wall. GE ref to drain hole can be seen without removing any panels. Remove the ice from the drain area and put hot water in the drain and use your finger like a plunger. The water will go to a pan under the box or on top of the compressor. Your saying about the ice slab in the freezer gives it away good job!
